SHOWPULL

Role Based Document Parser

One messy show packet goes in. A sheet for every crew position comes out, plus a roster, a revision diff, and a client one pager. No AI, no network.

Showpull came about when I was emailed a packet of pre-show information for an upcoming gig. The PDF was 4 pages of gear and scheduling that was disorganized and hard to follow. This always creates friction during the show setups. The details are in the docs but when you are on the show floor looking at your phone finding it isn't always easy. So I created a tool that read the docs. Showpull knows what gear is associated with what role and location. It takes the disorganized docs and creates a roster with every position and location. It then takes the gear list and assigns each position the gear they will be using.

Upload your Labor Requirements and Gear Listclick the document to enlarge
Page one of the packet PDF: job header, load in and load out times, then the labor requirements listed by day Page two of the packet PDF: the equipment requested, grouped by category
The A1 audio sheet: a three day schedule with room and set, operate, strike calls, then a five item gear list
A printed style production plan: engagement details, a three day production schedule with crew counts, and an equipment summary

Labor requirements, schedule and gear list can be loaded as PDFs. Showpull parses them, creates the docs and the PC sends it to the crew so they have a strong idea of what they are walking into. This reduces the questions that the PM has to answer, making their workload smaller and more manageable. A differential doc is created if there are revisions to any of the data along the way. The client one pager is to show what they are paying for at each position.

The parser does not use AI or call to the internet. The same input will give you the same result every time. Currently, it only reads PDFs, and only from one company. A new company means learning how their documents are laid out and what they call things, then telling it where to look.

Showpull isn't only for the event industry. A catering banquet order or a construction change order has the same basic framework. One messy document, different roles needing different portions of it.

Run it yourself

Pick a packet, run the parser, and open any role. The parse happens in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. The shows, gear and crew were all created for this demo; the document layout is the real end product.
